This Privacy Policy applies to this website and any other websites, applications, and online products and services (collectively, the "Websites") operated for the Now We Know TV! television series by WBC Productions and its parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and designees, if any ("Now We Know TV!," "we," "us," and "our"). As used here, "you," "your," or "users" means the individual or entity accessing or using our Websites.

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Websites and the choices you have associated with that data. Changes may be made without prior notice, but all updates will appear on this page and will be effective when posted. Your continued use of the Websites confirms your agreement with the then-current Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with all or part of this Privacy Policy, do not use our Websites.

Types of information we collect and use

We collect several types of information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy:

  • Information you give us. When you submit a story nomination we receive your name, work email address, phone number, company or organization, role, and the story you describe. When you join our newsletter we receive your email address. When you contact us we receive whatever information you include in your message.

  • Cookies Data. See the Cookies section below.

Choice / opt-out

We may use your Personal Data to contact you with newsletters and other information you have requested, such as episode reminders and show updates. You may opt out of receiving any or all of these communications at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by contacting us through WBC Productions.

Cookies and similar technologies

As currently built, our Websites do not set advertising or analytics cookies and do not use social media pixels or fingerprinting. If we introduce cookies or similar technologies in the future, for example for analytics or embedded video features, we will update this policy and, where required by law, present you with a consent choice before non-essential cookies are set. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent; if you do not accept cookies, some portions of the Websites may not function as intended.

Analytics

We may use third-party Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of our Websites. If we adopt an analytics service, it will be disclosed here, along with any available opt-out mechanism.

Surveys and promotions

From time to time we may request information from users through voluntary surveys or promotions. Participation is entirely optional, and you may choose not to disclose information simply by not participating. Aggregated, non-identifying results may be used in programming decisions, presentations, and press materials.

Use of data

We use the collected data to:

  • Review your story nomination and contact you about it;
  • Provide, maintain, and improve our Websites;
  • Send you the newsletter and reminders you asked for;
  • Respond to your questions and provide support;
  • Monitor usage of the Websites and detect, prevent, and address technical and security issues;
  • Notify you of changes to our Websites or services; and
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your Personal Data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Disclosure of data

We may disclose your Personal Data in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: comply with a legal obligation or valid request by public authorities; protect and defend our rights or property; prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Websites; protect the personal safety of users of the Websites or the public; or protect against legal liability. Form submissions are otherwise shared only with the production team and the Service Providers who process submissions and send email on our behalf.

Legal basis for processing under the GDPR and similar laws

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with comparable data protection law, our legal basis for collecting and using your Personal Data depends on the data concerned and the context in which we collect it. We may process your Personal Data because:

  • You have given us consent to do so for one or more specific purposes, for example by ticking the consent box on a form;
  • The processing is necessary to take steps you have requested, such as evaluating a story nomination;
  • The processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation;
  • The processing is necessary for our legitimate interests, such as operating and securing the Websites, except where overridden by your interests, rights, and freedoms.

You may withdraw consent at any time as described under Your Rights below.

Data retention

We retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. Nomination submissions are kept while we evaluate the story and for up to 24 months afterward in case a future season is a fit. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. We may retain data longer where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Usage Data is generally retained for shorter periods for internal analysis and security.

Transfer of data

Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to and maintained on systems located outside of your state, province, or country, where data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. We are based in the United States, and if you provide information from outside the United States, you consent to its transfer to and processing in the United States. We will take steps reasonably necessary to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Data security

The security of your data is important to us. Form submissions travel over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access is limited to team members who need it. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Service providers

We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Websites, provide services on our behalf, or assist us in analyzing how our Websites are used. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Third-party websites

Our Websites link to third-party websites, including participant company sites and the WBC Productions site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. If you have questions about how they use your information, review their policies and contact them directly.

Do-Not-Track disclosure

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" feature. Because our Websites do not track visitors across third-party websites, there is nothing for this signal to disable; to the extent required by law, we note that our systems do not respond to Do Not Track headers at this time.

Children

Our Websites are not directed to anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us and we will delete it. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from a child without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our systems.

California and other U.S. state privacy rights

This section applies to residents of California and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws.

Notice at collection

In the last 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as name, email address, and telephone number); professional or employment-related information (such as company and role); and internet or other electronic network activity information (such as standard server logs). We collect this information directly from you and from your use of the Websites, for the business purposes described under Use of Data above.

Sale or sharing

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of minors under 16 years of age.

Your rights

  • Right to know what personal information we have collected about you, its sources, our purposes, and any third parties to whom it was disclosed;
  • Right to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions;
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing (not applicable, as we do neither);
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

You can exercise these rights, or designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf, by contacting us through WBC Productions. We will need to verify your identity before processing access, deletion, or correction requests, and we respond to verified requests within the time required by applicable law. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response.

Your rights under the GDPR

If you are located in the EEA or UK you additionally have the right to access, correct, update, or request deletion of your Personal Data; to object to processing; to request restriction of processing; to data portability; to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent; and to complain to your local data protection authority about our collection and use of your Personal Data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be highlighted on the Websites. You are advised to review this page periodically.
